Animation - $170

Do you have a love of moving pictures? Do you ever wonder how cartoons are made? Learn the fine art of animation, where I will discuss everything about animation from the history to supplies and production. We will bring your characters to life by making simple, 2D, hand-drawn “FLIPBOOKS” that you can bring home to show all of your family and friends.

INSTRUCTOR: Lynne Lee is a graduate and past instructor for the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She has received invaluable animation training from several Pixar Animation Directors. Lynne has had a short film debut at the Mill Valley Film Festival and has worked on a kids TV series for UPN. She has taught this class for several years to students all over the Bay Area (San Ramon, Danville, Walnut Creek, Orinda, San Rafael, Napa, Novato, Piedmont, El Cerrito, Oakland, and Pinole).

Day/Time: Wednesdays 3:30 – 5:00 (90 minutes) for grades 3 to 5

Chess - $129

Chess is fun and can be learned quickly and easily! Studies have found that chess helps improve test results in reading, science, and math, and produces growth in critical cognitive skills. Beyond academia, chess influences social behavior including self esteem, respect for others, patience, and good sportsmanship. And did we mention: it’s FUN!

   *both classes are mixed level

Cooking Around the World - $150

Join us for 5 weeks of fun preparing recipes from around the world.  Popular dishes such as Crepes, Pasta, Tacos, and sushi are sure to delight these budding chefs. Children are encouraged to try new foods, learn about healthy choices, engage all of their senses, and have a fun time. Cooking builds lifelong skills!

Each child will take home a personalized recipe book at the end of class.  

** This is a nut-free class. Not able to accommodate dairy-free and gluten-free

Critters ‘N Clay - $ 105

Science, sculpting and children’s literature will be integrated into one delightful hour of Critters ‘n ClayÔ.  We will learn about a new animal each week, sculpt it out of clay and wrap things up with a story about the “critter du jour.”  Students will sculpt 3 critters and glaze them all on the last day. Students will create some priceless treasures in this class.

In the spirit of holiday gift giving, these creations will make unique presents, as long as your child is willing to part with them!

Day/Time: Fridays 3:30 – 4:30 for grades K to 5

Drama & Storytelling - $ 205

The focus of the class will be the production of a fun and silly version of Jack and the Beanstalk. Class time will include theater games, creative drama and storytelling.

Field Games - $95

The key to loving fitness at an early age is making it FUN! This action packed class will include relay races, obstacle courses, games (capture the flag, dodge ball and kick ball, etc.) as well as other field games. Every class will vary from week to week. Focus will be on increasing kid’s fitness level while having fun.

Day/Time: Wednesdays 3:30 – 4:30 for grades 2 to 5

Dates: Wednesdays 9/19 – 11/14, no class 10/10 or 10/31 (7 Classes)


FUNdamental Drawing - $150

Young Rembrandts FUNdamental drawing classes teach children the skills necessary to draw complex images. As they learn to draw with our step-by-step method, children develop observations skills, increase their fine motor skills, handwriting readiness and attention to detail. In Young Rembrandts weekly classes, young children learn how to follow directions, hold and use a pencil, increase their attention span and grow their self-confidence so they will be successful in kindergarten.

Intro to Coding
- $ 255

Do you love playing video games? Ever wanted to build your own? We’ll teach you to use block based language to build an exciting top down game where you can uncover hidden items, solve challenging puzzles, and battle your way through waves of enemy characters. Along the way, you’ll learn fundamental computer science concepts including loops, conditionals, boolean logic, message passing and variables, using an intuitive and beginner-friendly interface. Student must read at 2nd grade level.
This course is taught by a team of experienced coders from a variety of backgrounds, and
designed for newcomers with little to no previous coding experience. Let the games begin!

(Requires Chromebooks, laptops, or desktops with Chrome which will be provided in computer lab)

Introduction to Minecraft Plugins -$ 304

Learn to customize minecraft servers by creating and adding your own minecraft plugins. Plugins will be coded using JavaScript. Students will use JavaScript to create a complex minecraft minigame plugin and install it on their server. Each student is required to have a Minecraft account

Students will receive their own minecraft servers for the class, so they can play with their plugins and show them to their friends. (Requires Laptops or Desktops with MInecraft installed which will be provided in the computer lab, and each student is required to have a Minecraft account)

Kickboxing - $ 150

KickSmart is a non-competitive, school-friendly and non-violent youth-kickboxing program that is designed to combine mindfulness and fitness. Each KickSmart session consists of tough yet exhilarating kickboxing-based workouts followed by a guided meditation, which creates a uniquely enriching experience for each student. KickSmart uses the ancient martial art of Muay Thai to emphasizes the importance of physical exercise for the mind. KickSmart builds confidence and is extremely fun for any student regardless of gender or age, but make no mistake, WE WORK HARD! All equipment is provided which includes boxing gloves. Lamorinda Mileage Club - $ 170

Lamorinda Mileage Club offers over a period of 8 weeks for boys and girls in the 3rd through 5th grade to participate in an after-school program which helps build their confidence and celebrate all that makes them unique through running and strength building. Our program is meant to inspire an appreciation of fitness and to build healthy habits that lead to a lifetime of healthy choices.  Join us for an hour once a week and start setting a framework for healthy life goals.

Soccer- $ 200

After another successful soccer clinics held at Sleepy Hollow Elementary last Spring 2018, Cal men's assistant soccer coach Stefan Clemens welcomes all Sleepy Hollow students to join the Fall Soccer clinics 2018. This after school soccer class is provided for girls and boys TK - 3rd grade (ages 3-9) to learn the game of soccer, compete in a healthy and fun environment, and get solid exercise to strengthen their bodies and minds. Each player will work on their footwork, balance, coordination, ball mastery (touches on the soccer ball), dribbling moves, passing technique, and shooting technique and power. Along with learning the technical aspect of soccer, all players will compete in competitive situations like 1v1 games, 2v2 games, and 3v3 games. At the end of each session, the players will play freely (from 4v4 up to 8v8) to work together as a team, and utilize the moves and techniques they learned earlier in the session. Other areas covered include public speaking, how to interact with one another in a friendly way, and how deal with emotions after winning and losing. The most important aspect of this soccer class is to learn the game of soccer, be respectful of others and show good sportsmanship, and have fun! :)

Transportation Timeline and Things that GO!! - $138
Dive into the history and mechanics of things designed to move! If you like planes, trains and automobiles, then this unit is for you. Each week, students will build motorized models of a dragster or an airplane and more. Explore the history of transportation from horse and buggy and trains to the development of the automobile and flight. Each lesson introduces key terminology related to each mode of transportation, like lift and propulsion for the airplane, as well as describes how each vehicle works all while reinforcing the S.T.E.M. and CORE concepts. All this with LEGO!

Day/Time: Thursdays 3:30 - 4:30 for grades K to 5

Toyology - $210

In these exciting hands-on science classes we will build a variety of toys and use them to demonstrate major scientific concepts such as energy, electricity, light, gravity, motion, friction, magnetism and simple machines. Each student will construct and take home a science toy in every class. Project highlights this Fall at Sleepy Hollow include: Light-Up Electric Robot, Might Mini Catapult, Fly High Rocket, Motorized Solar Cell Color Spinner, and lots more! Space is limited.
