CLASS DETAILS

 

3D Printing Pen Class - $182

What is a 3D Printing Pens? 3D printing pens are the latest technology in the 3D printing craze. Kids will learn how to create both 2D and 3D artwork and other fun projects through the use of a 3D printing pen. The instructor will teach different techniques used to bring the students ideas and creations to life! Lots of great take

home projects!  Space is limited, only 14 children allowed.

Day/Time: Wednesdays 3:30-4:40 (70 minutes) for grades 2 to 5

Dates: 1/23 – 3/13, (8 Classes)

 

Chess - $112

Chess is fun and can be learned quickly and easily! Studies have found that chess helps improve test results in reading, science, and math, and produces growth in critical cognitive skills. Beyond academia, chess influences social behavior including self esteem, respect for others, patience, and good sportsmanship. And did we mention: it’s FUN!

   *both classes are mixed level

Cooking Around the World - $206

Join us for 7 weeks of fun preparing recipes from around the world.  Popular dishes such as Crepes, Pasta, Tacos, and sushi are sure to delight these budding chefs. Children are encouraged to try new foods, learn about healthy choices, engage all of their senses, and have a fun time. Cooking builds lifelong skills!

Each child will take home a personalized recipe book at the end of class.  

** This is a nut-free class. Not able to accommodate dairy-free and gluten-free

Drama & Storytelling - $ 205

The focus of the class will be the production of a fun and silly version of Jack and the Beanstalk called "Jack and Jackie and the Magic Elevator". In addition to working on the play, each class will include creative drama, theater games and storytelling. FUNdamental Drawing - $ 170

The long winter months can easily lead to boredom or restlessness. Alleviate any creative dormancy with a fun-filled Young Rembrandts class! We begin the season with a lesson that teaches our students about simple figure drawing as they create a snowman using basic geometric shapes. Winter-themed lessons like our mittens and penguin drawings will excite the imagination. Illustrations featuring a patterned giraffe and feathery owl will provide a great introduction to drawing animals. All this and more await your budding artist. Enroll your child today!

Having Fun With Chinese - $ 235

This class will provide an introduction to the Chinese language, including numbers, common phrases, the four tones, and children's songs.  I will also cover Chinese customs and culture including the major holidays such as Chinese New Year.

Day/Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:15 – 4:15 for grades TK to 2

                                                       4:15 – 5:15 for grades 3 to 5

Intro to Coding
- $ 220

Do you love playing video games? Ever wanted to build your own? We’ll teach you to use block based language to build an exciting top down game where you can uncover hidden items, solve challenging puzzles, and battle your way through waves of enemy characters. Along the way, you’ll learn fundamental computer science concepts including loops, conditionals, boolean logic, message passing and variables, using an intuitive and beginner-friendly interface. Student must read at 2nd grade level.
This course is taught by a team of experienced coders from a variety of backgrounds, and
designed for newcomers with little to no previous coding experience. Let the games begin!

(Requires Chromebooks, laptops, or desktops with Chrome which will be provided in computer lab)

Introduction to Minecraft Plugins -$ 262

Learn to customize minecraft servers by creating and adding your own minecraft plugins. Plugins will be coded using JavaScript. Students will use JavaScript to create a complex minecraft minigame plugin and install it on their server. Each student is required to have a Minecraft account

Students will receive their own minecraft servers for the class, so they can play with their plugins and show them to their friends. (Requires Laptops or Desktops with MInecraft installed which will be provided in the computer lab, and each student is required to have a Minecraft account)

** Returning students are welcome to continue their learning***

Kickboxing - $ 150

KickSmart is a non-competitive, school-friendly and non-violent youth-kickboxing program that is designed to combine mindfulness and fitness. Each KickSmart session consists of tough yet exhilarating kickboxing-based workouts followed by a guided meditation, which creates a uniquely enriching experience for each student.

KickSmart uses the ancient martial art of Muay Thai to emphasize the importance of physical exercise, and combines it with modern day mindfulness practices. KickSmart builds confidence and is extremely fun for any student regardless of gender or age, but make no mistake, WE WORK HARD! Lamorinda Mileage Club - $ 135

Lamorinda Mileage Club offers over a period of 7 weeks for boys and girls in the 1st through 5th grade to participate in an after-school program which helps build their confidence and celebrate all that makes them unique through running and strength building. Our program is meant to inspire an appreciation of fitness and to build healthy habits that lead to a lifetime of healthy choices.  Join us for an hour once a week and start setting a framework for healthy life goals.

Mission to Space and a Galaxy Far Far Away - $136

Get inspired to last off and explore the solar system in this fun, educational class. From blasting off from the Kennedy Space Center to exploring the moon and Mars and beyond into the realm of Star Wars, each lesson will challenge students to use their imaginations as they learn about space exploration all while creating with the world's most popular toy - LEGO®. Each lesson reinforces the S.T.E.M. and CORE concepts. Come build with us!!

Playground Olympics - $146

This multi-sport program combines all your favorite Skyhawks sports & games into one action-packed enrichment class.  Participants will learn and play fun Skyhawks variations of Baseball, Basketball, Capture the Flag, Dodgeball, Flag Football, Kickball, Soccer, Track & Field, Ultimate Frisbee, and Volleyball. By adding just the right amount of friendly competition, this program teaches boys and girls skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and strategy.  Bring your friends or come make new ones.  All participants receive a Skyhawks T-Shirt and Award Medal.

Toyology - $185

In these exciting hands-on science classes we will build a variety of toys and use them to demonstrate major scientific concepts such as energy, electricity, light, gravity, motion, friction, magnetism and simple machines. Each student will construct and take home a science toy in every class. All new projects! Project highlights this Winter at Sleepy Hollow include: Motorized Rotating Robot, Wind Powered Pulley, Static Charged Spaceship, Solar Powered Merry-Go Round and lots more! Space is limited.
